Animation Site

Animation sites are great for students that get bored reading a book or coping from the board. Site like Goanimate and Animoto http://animoto.com/ http://goanimate.com
can be used to create interesting little movies to show the students new information. As most students watch cartoons and are used to seeing moving cartoon character they will be more engaged inthe learning and more will to absorbe the information you offer to them. Animoto is a site where you can create a 30 second movie for free with as many pictures as you wish many different back grounds to choose from and the use of audio. This site can be used to show small movies about the environment to students and they can depic what they pick up from the presentation in their own little movie. Goanimate is a little harder an requires the students to be more patient when creating there own version of the simpsons. Even though these sites can be distracting if used correctly students can create A standard assignments on these site and have fun doing it.

Blogs and wikis

In this Term we have been looking at Blogs and wikis and how they can help students in their learning. Blogs can be used to show parents and other students what yu have been learning/doing in class. This can also be used to help students interact with each other as a type of instant messager that can be supervised by teachers and parents. Wikis are great for assessment work. Instead of being handed a task sheet with everything specific on it, using a wiki can be changed if things need to be changed, it can also be accessed at anytime and cannot be loss unlike a ordinary piece of paper in a students school bag. Students can also add extra comments and information on the wiki to help out their peers. Blogs and wikis are very useful tools in the education of young people.

Synopsis

e-Learning is offered to teachers to learn how to use technology in the forms of cameras, computer, voice recorders, mobile phone, USB drives and online websites that allow students to learn new things in different and exciting ways. I hope to be teaching students from years 4 to 6 and I believe strongly that using ICT in my classroom would help prepare them for what they need to know in high school. Some of the tools like Goanimate http://goanimate.com/ were very hard for me to work and I would not use this tool for my students, unlike wikispaces which my students could access to gain knowledge on assessment tasks, ask for help on certain areas of their education and even disscuss between themselves how to go about a task that has been given to them. I can also use sites like blogger http://www.blogger.com/ to speak to people in other countries an get them to share their experiences with the students. I have selected to use these three tools in my synopsis of ICT, Blogger, Wikispaces, and Animoto. I selected these tools because they bring a whole new learning experience to the student. These tools can be fun to use for both the student and the teacher and it also bring the classroom to life. Students are more interested in things that move and speak to them through a glass screen the they are in a person standing at the front of the classroom giving a leture in how the ecosystem works. Students will also understanding the education better if they find it fun and enjoyable. ICT is a fun and easy way of teaching students how to use a computer as well as othe digital device and makes learning fun.

Tools used in my course

Over the past few weeks we have been exploring many different tools that can be used in education. From sites like blogger to wikispaces, all have the ability to help students with their education and learn new and improved techniquies for assessment work as well as every day learning. I have learnt many different and new things that I can do with programs like powerpoint and are very pleased to say that they will help me not only at university but also high school. Another site that I find is quiet fascinating a site called Animoto. Unfortunately it costs money to become a full member but I am still able to create small videos on it. I find that this site could come in handy when teaching student about new things, it's quiet intruging and would get the students excited.
